I was able to go on a girls' trip to San Diego to meet up with my mom and sisters. I headed out on Thursday night and met up with everyone late that night. We all slept in on Friday morning--obviously we were all worn out! After a late morning we headed to the San Diego Temple for a session and then to the Mormon Battalion Historic Site, where I was given the grand opportunity of dressing up as a old-time soldier.
The trip was mostly planned around The Color Run, which was on Saturday morning. The whole race experience was a new one for me--thank goodness this was a low-key event. It was so much fun to walk and get all sprayed with color. Wendi so thoughtfully threw her color pack right into my eye, ensuring I looked like Jem the whole time. I couldn't open my eye for awhile, but it was actually very hilarious. The whole thing was great, and I'm so glad that we decided to do this.
After the race we got cleaned up and headed up the coast a bit toward La Jolla to see the sea lions. Love the beach, could've relaxed there all day!
After the beach we went back to Old Town San Diego and did some shopping. I couldn't find anything I loved for the boys, so I got them suckers instead. I knew a lollipop would do the trick, and I was completely right. Sticky, happy boys indeed!
One of the suckers I brought back
had a scorpion inside it. I thought that Devin would be blown away by
this, so I promised Wendi I get a video of his first reaction. Sadly the
first video was crappy since the sun was behind him, but this video is
pretty much the way he first reacted. It's long, but I promised Wendi.
:)
Coming home was so sweet. The boys had so much fun with their daddy while I was gone, but I was glad that they were full of grins when they picked me up from the airport. It did my mother heart good when I glanced back at Landon and he was just grinning at me with his adorable smile. Gosh, I love those boys, and though the girls' trip was fabulous and much needed, I was happy to get back home to my family! Since I took the camera with me, these are the only pics Rich got of their boys' weekend. Clearly we never feed Landon. Stinker keeps picking my peppers and eating them as apples!
