Landon 17 Months

I'm very behind on all the posts I need to do about our trip to Utah and other goings on, but I didn't want too long to pass before writing down some fun stuff about Landon Boy being 17 months. 

He's finally saying "Mama" more regularly, which is great. Except that he usually only says this while crying/whining for me to hold him or to save him from all the other people in the world. He still prefers me. I love him. 

He understands so much now and though he's not talking a ton, we can have little conversations sometimes. Cutest thing is when he puts his hands out and says "I don't know" with his little voice inflection. He has also taken to yelling "no way!" Can't imagine where he got that from.

He is still the food-throwingest kid, which makes me crazy, but he continues to improve on his eating and will now eat eggs and that makes me happy. He LOVES tomatoes from the garden. Upon going out back he heads to the tomato plants first and fills up his dimply hands with cherry tomatoes. If there aren't enough cherry tomatoes, he'll settle for small romas. He is getting better about not picking the green ones (sometimes) and always comes in with tomato seeds down his front. 

He continues to be a sweet boy but has started instigating more and more wrestling matches with his brother. He continues to know exactly what will frustrate his brother the most and sometimes likes to stand inches away with his finger outstretched, not quite touching. He's going to be a pro at being a little brother, it seems. He likes to do whatever Devin is doing and feels the need to be involved in all the goings on. 

We love our Landon boy and think he's the best.

USS Hornet

We headed down to Alameda to see the USS Hornet, which is an aircraft carrier that fought during WWII and was part of the Apollo 11 and 12 recovery team. 

Almost the whole ship is open as a museum now, and it was super cool to see all the planes, memorabilia, and all the living quarters. It's so big inside! I could never have served on a ship like this.

 

 

 

     

 

Unfortunately the Hornet is not a toddler-friendly museum, so we didn't get to see even half of the ship. Rich and I would both like to go back sans kids just to be able to go on some guided tours to learn more of the history and to see more of the ship. However, Devin still had a great time and was fascinated by all of the things he could touch and explore. 

 

Landon was mostly excited about following his brother around and sitting on the floor whenever we tried to make him hold our hands. 

Both boys' favorite part was the pigeon they were able to chase. 

I thought this poster was super cute and applicable to my life (kind of). Government ad people were so witty back then.  

 We all loved the flight deck area where we could run around and see where all the ship's action took place.

Climbing Phase

So, we have entered the phase of the climber. Devin never tried to get this far, so this is new for us. I looked over one day and saw Landon Boy standing straight up on the table just staring around taking in his new-found perspective. But on a side note he can now say the word "trouble"--in reference to himself, of course. Hard to get pictures when I'm mostly freaking out that he's going to fall on his head.

Landon Loves Corn

He would eat several ears and only that for dinner if we let him.

Daddy's Helpers

While Rich worked on the car Saturday morning, Devin and Landon helped by scattering the sockets and pushing around the lift. 

 

 

 

 

When they tired of these important jobs they ate some Otter Pops. 

 

All three boys came inside completely filthy. Landon, for one, couldn't even stay awake through play time and fell asleep before lunch!

Devin spent the day running around with his pants on backward. Devin went off early to the store with Rich and neither noticed the fashion statement until they stopped at a yard sale on the way home and a random lady asked Devin if he'd dressed himself that day. She was very complimentary about his efforts.

Brothers

These pictures are noteworthy because they actually played together and sat together and the events didn't end with screaming! Maybe, just maybe, they do like each other!

 Here they're telling me that they think Barney is way better than Mama.
